Drawing improves English language skills

You use your hands every day to do thousands of things, but have you ever wondered why you refer to your fingers by names like "thumb" and "pinky"? A ring is a finger between the middle finger and the little finger, and is so named because in some cultures it is the finger on which one usually wears a wedding ring after marriage. Before medical science discovered how the circulatory system functioned, people believed that there was a vein in the fourth finger, known as the lover's vein, that was connected to the heart. Therefore in eastern medicine, the medication was stirred with this finger.

Learning to call fingers in English was important for students of the second year of the Faculty of foreign philology of the Kherson State University, since the fingers were used for language warming-up. Each of them pulled a thread (they had different length) and talked about themselves in English, wrapping thread on his finger.

Students' language practice in Honcharivka is already a tradition that we are happy to encourage. The first day in the library began with a short excursion, which introduced visitors to the main library services. In Window on America center a Speaking club was held for University students. After the warming-up they learned the rules of communication ... painting blind drawings. Some of them saw the picture and tried to describe it so that the partner got a very similar drawing. Visitors talked about the artists and their tools, communication and language, and also watched video from TED on these topics.
