Euro 2012 in the library

07.05.2012

We started the meeting with introductions including an adjective about ourselves starting with a letter in our name; Katherine, for example, was 'nice', Sergei was 'gorgeous', Olga was 'amazing'.  The main part of today's discussion was about EURO 2012.  Katherine presented information about the tournament's parent organization, the history and how it is organized.  Following the presentation, the group discussed the impressions they think visitors to Ukraine will have, how they think the country will be impacted by the tournament and we also discussed if Ukraine is ready.  Additionally, we watched a few short videos about the host cities for this year's EURO and the mascots and branding for the tournament.  Our last activity was to look at sport idioms.  The group was given sets of idioms with their definitions and we discussed and used these idioms.  For example, "kick off" - the start of something - University exams kick off May 28th.
