Europe Day Quiz: Discovering Cities, Culture and Opportunities

On the occasion of Europe Day, an online quiz titled «EU Nearby: An Online Journey Through Cities» was held. It brought together young people and teachers from Kherson and the region. Librarians from Honcharivka, in cooperation with the Kherson City Center for Professional Development of Teachers, reminded participants about Europe Day, which is celebrated annually on May 9. This date symbolizes peace, unity, and cooperation between countries. Its history dates back to the 1950 Robert Schuman Declaration, which became the basis for the creation of the modern European Union — an association of 27 states based on common values, partnership and mutual support.

The quiz consisted of several thematic rounds. In «A City Without Name», participants recognized European cities from photographs and descriptions - from picturesque Hallstatt to atmospheric Colmar. The «Find the Capital» round helped test their knowledge of geography, and «True or Myth?» - learn more about life in EU countries and ruin common stereotypes. In the «Cultural Puzzle» section, participants discovered flamenco, the history of opera, famous museums, and European traditions. The final round, «European Timeline,» allowed us to trace the key stages of the formation of the European Union, from the Schuman Plan to the present day.
During the event, a representative of the Kherson Center for European Information introduced the participants to useful resources for learning, international cooperation, and the creation of joint projects.
The meeting was dynamic and relaxed. Participants actively participated in the discussions, answered questions, and shared their knowledge and impressions. The online format made the event accessible and convenient for a wide audience.
