«Home Alone» and Christmas Spirit

Watching foreign language movies familiarizes you with foreign speech. It puts vocabulary in context. One of the main tasks of the film is to evoke certain emotions as well as to maintain our interest throughout the viewing. It creates a positive motivation. Besides, while watching a video, you can find out a lot about the country whose language you are studying.

That’s why a group of students – future sailors visited Window on America center in Kherson and watched excerpts from the movie «Home Alone 2: Lost in New York». They saw how Americans decorate their houses and streets of the city, what they eat for Christmas dinner, which songs they sing, and what presents they prefer. And what is important, they learned what this famous «Christmas spirit» is.
