Speed English about Black History Month

Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing the role of blacks in U.S. history. We talked about this during the next meeting of the English Speaking Club at Window on America in Kherson. We know many famous African-Americans, but this time we focused on boxers. The attention of visitors was attracted by the personality of Mohammed Ali, a legend of the 60-70's boxing world. We've learned some interesting facts about him, including a story told by his friend Howard Bingham. It turns out Mohammed Ali saved a man from suicide. In 1981, a man threatened to jump from the ninth story of a building. Howard Bingham witnessed the unfolding drama and called the boxer, who lived nearby. Ali rushed into the building and successfully talked the man down from the ledge. The club members discussed in groups and in Speed English format about this topic and about extreme sports in general.
