Reading is the Way to Knowing

The members of the Good Reads club at Window on America in Kherson have a great habit. They meet online every Wednesday to read a new instructive or educational story together. During the next meeting, the children knew about the Sonoran Desert, its plants and animals. It may seem that there is no life there, but there are organisms that have adapted to the heat and lack moisture. It is the only place in the world where the famous saguaro cactus (Carnegiea gigantea) grows in the wild. We think that the cacti are just decorative plants that sometimes bloom beautifully. It turns out that their fruits ripen in autumn. Many desert animals eat these fruits.
What new story will we read next week? Find out with our visitors.
