22.09.2025 15:18

A seminar dedicated to the topic of barrier-free library services and their importance for culture was held at the Window on America center of the Oles Honchar Kherson Regional Scientific Library.
Barrier-free services encompass various aspects of life, including physical, digital, linguistic, informational, and social, and are essential for each of us. It forms an environment where all people can equally receive services, participate in events, and develop.
To gauge the level of awareness among participants, the seminar began with an interactive Kahoot quiz on key concepts of inclusivity and barrier-free environments. Then, the theoretical part discussed the types of barriers, their impact on community life and the role of cultural institutions in creating a friendly and accessible space.
Special attention was paid to the concept of web accessibility. Participants learned the requirements that library websites must meet to be convenient for all users.
The practical task was especially valuable: participants were divided into two groups, which assessed the library space for accessibility and offered services that could make the library open to all visitors.
