Books & Talk: How the Speaking Youth Club Started

On the eve of World Book and Copyright Day, the first meeting of the new English conversation club for youth «SpeakUp» took place at the Kherson center «Window on America». The format combined acquaintance, discussion, and language practice - this is how we plan to build future meetings.

This time, we talked about copyright and favorite books. Participants shared their reading preferences, recalled famous plots and characters, and also learned and used English vocabulary on the topic «Books».

Special attention was paid to the basics of copyright: what it is, and why it is important to respect authors' rights. An interesting fact: copyright arises automatically from the moment a work is created - registration is not mandatory, although it can simplify the protection of rights.

The interactive part of the meeting was in the format of a quiz and Kahoot games - participants answered questions, tested their knowledge, and competed with each other a little.

The meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere: lots of communication, new acquaintances, and the first steps towards confident use of English in real-life topics. It was a good start for the «SpeakUp» club, with even more dynamic and interesting meetings ahead.
