Trying to translate Chekhov

Somerset Maugham once said about Chekhov," I felt that from him as from no other could be learned the secret of Russia". May 24 the library’s “Window on America” weekly talk-club meeting (6 persons) was devoted to secrets of translation of Anton Chekhov’s prose fragments. It was not easy. Next times we think they will be continuing.
