Ray Bradbury and Special Delivery

The plot of the story, we read at the meeting of the English Reading Club at Window on America in Kherson, was based on an old short story by Ray Bradbury. Then it was used by Alfred Hitchcock and adapted for teenagers. The tale is about a boy who grows mushrooms in his basement. It is supposed to be scary, but our participants smiled and laughed while reading it. Maybe this is the main reason why it was easy to read and translate. We also discussed the concept of ‘Conspiracy Theories’ mentioned in the text. As usual, we did an exercise to understand the content of the story at the end of the meeting. This time we inserted missing words into the sentences.
