Different Cultures, Different Points of View

We had 37 participants.  We began talk club with a round of introductions.  Our discussion topic for the day was the differences and similarities between Ukrainian and American beliefs.  We split into groups and discussed a list of American beliefs as put forth by sociologist John Harmon McElroy.  These beliefs were discussed and then compared to Ukrainian culture.  As a summary to the discussion, Katherine put forth some American values and asked the group for comments concerning whether or not these same values are found in Ukrainian culture.  It was interesting to note that many people felt that the younger generation of Ukrainians has a set of values that fit in the middle between the traditional American and traditional Ukrainian values.
